QUALITY AND AUTHENTICITY GUIDE
Understand the label, read the laboratory markers and match your jar to its batch certificate.
It is a record for the named sample and batch. Scan your label QR code, match the batch code with your jar, and review the certificate ID and results. The laboratory result can be higher than the minimum grade printed on the label.
Leptosperin is one marker used in UMF™ quality and authenticity testing. Read the reported batch result alongside MGO, DHA and HMF rather than treating one measurement as the whole quality assessment.
MGO stands for methylglyoxal; the accompanying number expresses its concentration in milligrams per kilogram. UMF™ evaluates four quality factors. An MGO number alone is not UMF™ certification, and neither number is a treatment dose.
Start with the labelled UMF™ grade and MGO value, then check the batch certificate and licensed brand. Compare jar size, price and availability at the retailer. A higher grade is not a promise of a health outcome.

UMF™ is a New Zealand quality-assurance system for genuine Mānuka honey. The product or batch certificate and the official UMFHA brand licence are separate verification layers.
A certificate applies to the named sample and batch shown in that document. It does not automatically cover every future batch or every label version. Always compare your jar with the current record, and contact us if the codes do not match.
