UMF™ VS MGO

Related, not interchangeable.

UMF™

Complete quality assurance

An independently certified system combining four factors: potency, authenticity, shelf life and freshness.

MGO

One measured compound

Methylglyoxal is measured in mg/kg. A higher number means a higher MGO concentration, but MGO alone is not a UMF™ rating.

Hover, focus or select a grade to compare its profile.

CHOOSING YOUR MĀNUKA HONEY

Before you choose a jar

A clear label, a matching batch certificate and current retailer information make the range easier to compare.

Which Mānuka honey grade should I choose?

Compare the labelled UMF™ grade and MGO value, then the jar size and retailer price. Check the relevant batch certificate before choosing. A higher grade describes the grading level; it is not a promise of a particular health outcome.

How can I compare Mānuka honey prices fairly?

Compare like-for-like jar sizes and labelled grades. If sizes differ, compare the price per 100 g as well as the total price. Use the retailer’s current listing and checkout for availability, delivery charges and terms.

How do I check that the certificate matches my jar?

Open the certificate for your labelled grade, then match the batch code printed on your jar with the named batch in the record. The laboratory result can be above the label minimum. If the codes differ, contact us for help finding the relevant document.

Where can I buy The 3 Beez Mānuka honey?

ManukaDrops.nz introduces the collection and provides verification information. Retail purchases take place at The 3 Beez online store, where you can check the current product selection, prices and purchasing terms.

AFTER YOU CHOOSE YOUR JAR

Storing and caring for mānuka honey

Simple guidance on storage, texture and date labels. These general notes do not replace the instructions on your product.

How should I store mānuka honey after opening?

Follow the jar’s instructions first. Keep the lid closed in a cool, dry cupboard, away from heat and moisture. Ordinary honey does not generally need refrigeration.

Why has my honey become thick or grainy?

Honey can crystallise during storage. Crystals alone establish neither spoilage nor authenticity. To check authenticity, use the licensed brand and matching batch certificate, not appearance alone.

Why keep mānuka honey away from heat?

UMF™ checks include HMF, a marker used to assess overheating and freshness. Avoid unnecessary warming and follow the handling instructions on your jar.

What does the best-before date mean?

Best-before concerns quality; use-by concerns safety. Follow the date and storage instructions on your jar. A general statement about honey’s shelf life does not guarantee that a specific UMF™ grade stays unchanged indefinitely.
