Study design

prospective randomized controlled study

Wound-care research

Tested material

Manuka honey placed in mandibular third-molar extraction sockets before mucosal flap closure, compared with closure without honey. Product grade and sterilization are not established by the accessible abstract and publisher extracts; not a test of The 3 Beez retail food honey.

Limitations

Single-center study with short follow-up through postoperative day 7. Product grade, sterilization and blinding cannot be confirmed from the accessible abstract and publisher extracts.

Funding & conflicts

Not yet transcribed from the primary publication.

Applicability guardrail

The honey was placed by a clinician under surgical closure, so the results do not support patients putting retail honey into extraction sockets themselves.
