Study design
Multicenter, open-label, parallel-group randomized controlled trial
Wound-care research
Tested material
Medicated Manuka or active Leptospermum honey dressings or gels applied to pressure injuries in critically ill children, compared with standard wound care; not a test of The 3 Beez retail food honey.
Limitations
The trial was unblinded and excluded larger infected wounds and some highly unstable children, limiting generalizability and leaving subjective care decisions open to bias.
Funding & conflicts
Not yet transcribed from the primary publication.
Applicability guardrail
The protocol used Manuka or active Leptospermum medicated dressings or gels, not household honey, and the result should not be generalized beyond comparable pediatric pressure injuries.
